PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) Facial Q & A
What is PRP facial rejuvenation?
PRP facial rejuvenation is a procedure in which microneedling and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy are used together to give you a more youthful appearance.
As with any treatment that involves PRP, the process begins with collecting a small vial of blood from your arm. Next, the Empowerment Med team processes your blood in a centrifuge to separate the concentrated PRP from other blood components.
Before we apply the PRP to your face, our team uses a specialized microneedling instrument to create tiny, controlled microchannels in your skin. Microneedling stimulates your body’s natural healing process to promote collagen production and tighten your skin.
Next, we apply the PRP to your face, and the microchannels allow your skin to soak up the growth factors in PRP. Growth factors regenerate new collagen, blood vessels, and fatty tissue, giving you fresh, more youthful skin.
Although microneedling can be used alone, your results are magnified when it’s combined with PRP.
What cosmetic concerns are treated with PRP facial rejuvenation?
As PRP facial rejuvenation boosts the growth of collagen, new skin, and blood vessels, your fresh skin is tighter, stronger, and has a better texture.
PRP improves circulation underneath your skin, restoring a renewed glow to dull, aging skin. Microneedling can also help treat acne scars and age spots.
As both treatments promote new skin growth, wrinkles are smoothed and softened. You’ll look younger as lines on your forehead and around your mouth and nose are diminished.
What should I expect during and after PRP facial rejuvenation?
Before PRP facial rejuvenation, we discuss the entire process and answers your questions, so you’ll know what to expect.
The entire PRP facial rejuvenation treatment takes 30-60 minutes. Your skin may be red and tender afterward, but this should subside within a few hours to days. Downtime is minor, with minimal discomfort during and after the facial.
It takes a little time for your body to produce new cells and tissues. You can expect to see more radiant skin within a few weeks after your PRP facial rejuvenation treatment, then improvements continue over the next few months.*
Once we evaluate your skin and discusses your specific concerns, we recommend whether PRP facial rejuvenation is right for you. To learn more about this innovative anti-aging treatment, call Empowerment Med or book a consultation online.
*Individual results may vary.
